Brewer’s spent grains is the most abundant by-product in the global brewing industry, with more than 40 million tons being discarded every year. Until now the grains have been used for livestock feed or ended up as waste, but brewer’s spent grains are full of nutrients, such as proteins and fibres, and by making flour from the grains, it also becomes a sustainable resource of food for the future. In addition, the different spent grains offer a variety of flavors that inspire new recipes and methods of cooking.
Agrain® products are made from organic spent grains provided by Danish microbreweries. The spent grains are barley, oats, rye and wheat, and we have carefully selected our suppliers based on their brewing process.
Agrain® was developed with professional bakers and chefs in Copenhagen, and now we want to make it available for home cooking.
One of our products...
Flour from Pilsner
We created the first few recipes with Agrain flours as inspiration to you. For example, try our sourdough bread recipe which gives an aromatic twist, using our Agrain® 02 - IPA flour, and your bread becomes rich in fibre and proteins.
We choose to produce 100% organic products in order to create a healthier and more sustainable world. All our products are certified organic and controlled by the Danish government.
